Melody Hartzler named to Pharmacists' 40 under 40

Not only do Cedarville University professors prepare their students to excel in their future professions, they lead by example.

Dr. Melody Hartzler, associate professor of pharmacy practice, will be recognized by the Ohio Pharmacists Association (OPA) as one of its inaugural UNDER 40 honorees at the 140th Annual OPA Conference and Trade Show on April 21 in Columbus, Ohio.

Hartzler will be one of 10 pharmacists to receive the award. Recipients were nominated by colleagues and selected based on their leadership, excellence and vision in their practice.

In addition to her role as a professor at Cedarville University, Hartzler serves as a clinical pharmacist at Western Medicine Family Practice Physicians in Fairborn, Ohio. Hartzler is also an OPA board member and active in the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) and the American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP). Hartzler specializes in diabetes management and is a nationally recognized speaker on the topic.

“Dr. Hartzler is an innovative, high-energy faculty member, pharmacist and professional. She inspires her students while she paves the way for improved health care,” said Dr. Marc Sweeney, dean of the school of pharmacy.

For Hartzler, this recognition represents a focus on moving forward, working to become more efficient and effective in solving problems in health care alongside other pharmacists.

“I am thankful to serve as a pharmacist and be able to impact the lives of the people around me,” said Hartzler. “I appreciate the recognition for the work I have done, and I hope that being recognized allows for other pharmacists to find a passion for developing something new in their specialties.”
