School of Pharmacy professional students nominated for Rite Aid award.

Aaron “AJ” Oliver and Morgan Bailey, both members of Cedarville University’s chapter of the Student National Pharmacy Association (SNPhA), were finalists for the Rite Aid Outstanding Community Leader Award. The award presentation was this summer in Charlotte, North Carolina, during the SNPhA annual student convention.

Cedarville’s SNPhA’s chapter is only two and a half years old, but it has won the national scrapbook competition, multiple scholarships and was named Chapter of the Year among all 92 chapters in the SNPhA this year.

"It was an honor to be nominated for the Rite Aid/ SNPhA Outstanding Community Leader Award,” said Oliver, vice president of Cedarville’s SNPhA’s chapter. “What made the nomination so special to me is that it came from the people with whom I helped serve the community.”

“SNPhA has provided a platform to serve the underserved and together the Cedarville SNPhA family has done a great job in serving our community,” said Bailey, historian of Cedarville’s SNPhA’s chapter. “I believe that this nomination reflects Cedarville standards, because God has called us to be faithful servants and to show the love of Christ in all that we do. We are to show love that is patient, kind, not boastful or seek-seeking. This is the kind of love that I hope to show my future patients one day.”

While Bailey and Oliver did not win the award, they were recognized for their hard work and dedication, noted Cindy Burban, director of community engagement. “There were only five finalists for this award and two of them were from Cedarville University. We are proud of their accomplishments.”
