Cedarville Stories Podcast: Making an Arrest on COVID-19
Cedarville alumnus Steve Norris offered his blood in the fight against the deadly coronavirus.
As a local police officer, firefighter, and EMT, Steve Norris has been in the middle of some rough situations. Making an arrest during a bar fight? Check. Entering a burning building? Check. Running after a man with a weapon? Check.
But how about arresting COVID-19 with his own blood? Check!
Norris is a 2001 criminal justice and 2020 Master of Ministry alumnus from Cedarville. He was diagnosed with COVID-19 in March. After he recovered, he learned there was a local cardiologist who needed coronavirus convalescent plasma to help him fight the dangerous virus. Just like in his role serving the public, Norris knew what he had to do and became one of the first people in the Miami Valley to donate. His plasma was not a match for the sick doctor, but it was used to help a different patient.
Norris’ faith in Jesus Christ informs his public service. And the same faith moved him to donate. Giving plasma to help those impacted by this deadly pandemic comes from a heart that longs to reflect the love that Jesus has for him.

Steve was one of the first people in the Dayton, Ohio, area to donate coronavirus convalescent plasma (CCP) to the Community Blood Center’s CCP-collection program.
