The Dr. Deforia Lane Diversity Scholarship will range from $1,000 to $5,000 and will be awarded to eligible new students beginning fall 2021.

Cedarville University’s Board of Trustees approved adjustments to the University’s academic scholarship program, affirmed six new faculty members and announced a new diversity scholarship in honor of a longtime trustee at its regular board meeting Friday, Oct. 2, 2020.

Scholarships and Financial Aid

At the recommendation of the administration and the university’s Kingdom Diversity Team, the trustees approved a new scholarship, the Dr. Deforia Lane Diversity Scholarship. The new scholarship will range from $1,000 to $5,000 and will be awarded to eligible new students beginning fall 2021. Application and eligibility information will be available on the Cedarville University financial aid website.

Dr. Lane has been a member of the board of trustees since 1997. She served as the director of music therapy at University Hospitals of Cleveland, Seidman Cancer Center and Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital. Lane earned her Ph.D. in music education from Case Western Reserve University.

The trustees also reviewed and made adjustments to the overall academic scholarship program in light of the university’s recent decision to go “test optional” for admission. Academic scholarships for new students in fall 2021 will range from $10,000 to $20,000.
