Residency placements included Yale Health, MD Anderson Cancer Center, the Mayo Clinic, and the Cleveland Clinic, among many others.

Cedarville University’s school of pharmacy achieved a 100% match rate for students seeking postgraduate year two (PGY2) residencies. Residency placements included Yale Health, MD Anderson Cancer Center, the Mayo Clinic, the Cleveland Clinic, and many other well-recognized institutions.

Dr. Aleda Chen, assistant dean of the school of pharmacy and associate professor of pharmacy practice, attributed this impressive match rate to Cedarville’s intentional faculty mentoring, specific postgraduate training and the active learning curriculum that promotes critical thinking.

The residency match process isn’t over yet, and Chen has high hopes for Cedarville’s postgraduate year one (PGY1) residency placements since Cedarville’s match rate has been consistently higher than the national average.

“Cedarville University School of Pharmacy graduates continue to be highly sought-after, practice-ready pharmacists,” said Dr. Jeffery Bates, dean of the school of pharmacy and associate professor of pharmacy practice. “We were blessed to have all 13 of this year's PGY2 candidates match with residency sites around the country.”

According to the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists, the national average for PGY2 placements is 72.3%. Cedarville’s PGY2 placement rate places Cedarville as one of the top pharmacy schools in the U.S. Cedarville’s postgraduate year one (PGY1) match rate was 80%, which gives Cedarville an overall 85.3% match rate.

“Cedarville's pharmacy graduates continue to shine year after year, far exceeding national averages,” said Bates. “We are truly grateful for God's continued favor on our program”
