Cedarville University will host its annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony on Tuesday, Nov. 30. The event will run 7-7:30 p.m. and is open to the public free of charge. The event will also be livestreamed, beginning at 6:30 p.m., on Cedarville’s website and Facebook Live.

The annual ceremony will officially launch the Christmas season on campus and will include a celebration of the university’s traditional Giving Tuesday event.

Cedarville’s 32-foot tree will entirely envelop the Stevens Student Center (SSC) clocktower, which is located between the lower SSC and the Dixon Ministry Center near Cedar Lake. The tree will be covered by more than 15,000 white lights and 1,050 ornaments.

“Through the festivities, I hope attendees will use this event to begin their celebration of Christmas,” said Rah Jacob, experience director for Cedarville’s advancement division. “We will focus on the meaning of Christmas while enjoying the many festive songs of the season.”

Hot chocolate and cookies will be served to guests free of charge. There will be caroling and performances by Cedarville’s worship band HeartSong. The event will culminate with Dr. Thomas White sharing the meaning and story of Christmas and an announcement of how much money was raised for #GivingTuesday.
