Cedarville Stories Podcast: His Creative Mind Reflects the Creator

by Clem Boyd, Communication Content Manager – February 5, 2021

Jim Stevenson, director of the International Center for Creativity, has a soaring, singing, creative soul, which finds its rest and direction in the One who has gifted him in such amazing ways.

Jim Stevenson’s mind is always racing from one creative and innovative thought to another. No wonder his first career move was into the fast-paced and frenetic world of NASCAR, then IndyCar, racing. He worked with big-name companies and corporations securing sponsorships.

That speedy brain also has a musical side. Jim is a singer-songwriter who recorded albums and performed 40-50 gigs a year as part of a soft rock duo that once opened for legendary rock band, Chicago.

And now in his latest fast-paced adventure, Jim co-founded and serves as Director of the International Center for Creativity (ICC) in Dublin, Ohio, which is home to the final two years of Cedarville’s Innovative and Industrial Design (IID) program. ICC offers a nontraditional learning space where junior and senior IID students let their minds race and soar and sing, much like Jim’s, imagining out-of-the-box solutions for real-world problems.

But for Jim, his soaring, singing soul finds its rest and direction in the One who has gifted him in such amazing ways.

“To be creative, you need to know the Creator,” Jim shares during the podcast. “Our biggest challenge is to make sure we’re building Kingdom-builders, and they can use their creativity and their innovation to reflect Him, to be creative image-bearers of God.”
