Cedarville University will hold its spring career fair on Wednesday, Feb. 17, from 10 a.m. to 2:20 p.m, followed by a nursing career fair from 2:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. Both fairs will be held virtually through an online platform called Handshake, which connects students with employment opportunities and allows for chatting and video conferencing.

The fair will only be available to Cedarville students and alumni. Registration opened on Wednesday, February 3, at Handshake.com and is free of charge.

Students will meet with employers in a variety of online formats during the career fair, including video, audio, and chat sessions; group sessions with up to 50 students; and one-on-ones scheduled in advance or after a group session. Professionals will be available to review student resumes.

Representatives from 64 different employers will be present at the virtual fair, including healthcare providers, universities, seminaries, education centers, military recruiting stations, software companies, sports marketing agencies, ministries, churches, camps, and music companies.

Freshmen to senior students, across all academic disciplines, are encouraged to attend.

“It’s like fumbling the ball at the goal line when students don’t learn the skills of career fairs, resumes, interviews, and following up,” said Jeff Reep, director of career services at Cedarville. “If you can ask questions that show you are interested, familiar with the company, and have done your research, this will help separate you from those who are asking the types of questions anybody could come up with.”

Reep urged students to research organizations they are interested in and apply online before the fair so they are familiar with the company and can demonstrate their interest to employers.
