The Society of Women Engineers (SWE) at Cedarville University will partner with Destiny Rescue, an international ministry that helps children escape sex trafficking, for fundraising 5K and 10K races this Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the Elvin R. King Cross Country Course at the university.

To register for the race, visit cedar.to/destinyrescuerace. Cost is $5.

Destiny Rescue works in seven countries, including the United States, to locate and offer freedom to children trapped in sexual trafficking.

Destiny rescue then helps them transition into a home and reintegrate with society.

“We loved that the group is dedicated to fighting for the freedom of young girls who are being stolen away from their families,” said McKenzie Barlow, Cedarville’s SWE president. “We also know that the money we raised would be going straight to rescuing these girls, so every dollar would make a difference.”

Barlow said SWE felt a kinship with Destiny Rescue as an organization giving women a brighter future. “We just love that we are able to partner with a group that is helping empower women from the difficult situations they are in,” she said.

“We hope that our fundraiser might save even one of these girls from pain, and we can hope that by saving them, they are exposed to God's grace and goodness,” Barlow added. “He is the only one that will be able to heal them from all the pain that they have experienced.”
