Cedarville Stories: Constant Coach, Unusual Journey

by Clem Boyd, Communication Content Manager – February 4, 2022

Rapper, basketball player, graduate student. Tytist Dean, M.B.A. ’23 has a wide array of interests and talents. But there’s been one constant coach throughout his journey: Jesus.

This part of the page will be loaded later.

Is he Tytist the rapper? Or Tytist the basketball player? How about graduate student Tytist? Tytist Dean, M.B.A. ’23 is many things, but one identity holds steady no matter what: child of God.

Tytist has seen his Father's faithful hand on his life in so many ways. After he played what he thought was his last high school game, without a college offer, an opportunity to play at an NCAA Division I school presented itself.

He finished his undergrad in three years with eligibility remaining. What's next? The Lord led him to Cedarville where he plays guard for the Yellow Jackets while he pursues his M.B.A.

Beyond his odyssey on the court, Tytist has been pursuing his creative side, putting out an extended play (EP) rap album in high school, performing at youth rallies and at Cedarville’s Moonlight Madness basketball season kickoff, and contemplating a second album in the near future.

Tytist isn’t sure how everything will work out in his life, but he does know the One who holds the future, and in that he finds peace. He knows he can count on The Constant Coach.

“Being able to go through the experience that I have been through and not necessarily be worried about what’s to come, that has been how I’ve gotten where I’ve gotten,” Tytist shares during the podcast. “Being able to stay consistent with that and just trust His plan is always going to be the best for me.”
