Cedarville University wants to thank its community for going above and beyond, raising $480,185.22 during its Giving Tuesday initiative on November 29.

More than 453 people participated in Giving Tuesday, with 62 first-time donors and 50 students supporting Cedarville University through this initiative — the highest totals in both categories Cedarville history. The student gifts alone generated more than $3,500, the most students have given on a giving day in Cedarville history.

“The support on Giving Tuesday from the Cedarville University community was incredible,” said Dr. Will Smallwood, vice president for advancement.

Cedarville’s advancement division encouraged students, faculty and staff, parents and alumni to give based on challenges. As an example, 20 donors during the 10 a.m. daily chapel hour would unlock a $50,000 gift from a matching donor. In response, 96 donors provided a gift during the Chapel Hour Challenge.

Gifts on November 29 unlocked all challenges with the partnership of generous donors. More than 200 faculty and staff members and 197 current parents joined the students and first-time donors in making financial contributions on Giving Tuesday.

Gifts benefit student scholarships and the “One Thousand Days Transformed” campaign — which includes the current construction of the Scharnberg Business Center, the future home of the Robert W. Plaster School of Business.

“Every gift matters, and we are excited to see how the Lord will use each of these givers and gifts to advance the mission and vision of Cedarville University for his glory,” said Smallwood.
