Cedarville University nursing students can now join Sigma Theta Tau through the Zeta Phi at-large chapter, gaining access to professional networking, continuing education and career opportunities while recognizing the achievement of 37 newly inducted students.

Cedarville nursing students are now able to join Sigma Theta Tau, the international honor society of nurses, after Cedarville University’s School of Nursing joined the organization’s Zeta Phi at-large chapter in March.

By joining Wittenberg University, Kettering College and Wright State University in the Zeta Phi at-large chapter, Cedarville students have gained access to continuing education events, international networking opportunities and job connections that can last long after graduation.

Dr. Michele Dodds helps lead Cedarville nursing into Sigma Theta Tau chapter

Dr. Michele Dodds, assistant professor of nursing, a longtime member of Sigma Theta Tau and the current president of the chapter, led the efforts to recharter and join the chapter. Dodds has been a part of Sigma Theta Tau for about 25 years, meeting nurses around the world, speaking at conferences and investing in the next generation of nurses.

“Our goal is to create nurse leaders everywhere to improve healthcare everywhere,” said Dodds.

Sigma Theta Tau induction ceremony recognizes Cedarville nursing student achievement

This year, Cedarville University hosted the annual induction ceremony for the Zeta Phi at-large chapter. To be inducted, undergraduate students must complete at least half of their academic program and rank in the top 30% of their class. Graduate students must earn a GPA of 3.5 or higher. This year, 37 Cedarville students were inducted.

Through these opportunities, Sigma Theta Tau encourages nurses to live out the society’s name, which translates “Love, Courage, Honor.”

By providing nursing students with professional connections and educational opportunities, Cedarville not only recognizes their hard work but also positions them for long-term success.
