Job Summary: Responsible for editing machine-created captions for hearing-impaired viewers or those watching videos on mute. Reviews machine-created captions and makes quick decisions to determine which captions will need to be reviewed and edited. Candidates are dependable, friendly, organized, diligent, self-motivated, strong communicators, and able to keep track of several projects or tasks at a time. Skills Needed: • Ability to read quickly and comprehend text effectively • Above average spelling proficiency • Above average grammar proficiency • Comfortable learning and using captioning software (training provided) • Work independently Primary Responsibilities: • Determine which caption phrases to revise. • Improvise if necessary and write captions to describe music and/or background noises. • Synchronize captions with dialogue. • Operate computerized captioning system. • Meet deadlines for captioning projects
