Physical Plant Operations POSITION TITLE: Student Groundskeeper DEPARTMENT: Physical Plant – General Maintenance DIVISION: Business POSITION REPORTS TO: Manager of University Grounds EMPLOYMENT CLASSIFICATION: Student; Non-Exempt, Part-Time, Academic term, max 25 hours per week. Various shifts Monday – Friday 7AM – 4 PM Summer employment 40 hours per week. Monday – Friday 7 AM – 4 PM POSITION CONCEPT: Student worker under the direction of the staff Groundskeeper work alongside or alone to assist in the grounds keeping work. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Maintains landscaped areas • Mow • Rake • Weed 2. Assist with new lawns, beds. • Prepare ground • Seed • Water 3. Plant and cultivate • Tree • Flowers • Shrubs 4. Trees • Trim • Prune 5. Note and report any needed repairs. NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Run errands as needed for the department 2. Keep shop clean and orderly 3. Perform other duties as directed QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Must possess a valid driver license. 2. Must have a University Vehicle Operator ID from Campus Safety. 3. Be able to work independently without outside guidance. REQUIRED MENTAL/PHYSICAL ABILITIES: 1. Moderate/heavy physical effort; requires occasional lifting, carrying or otherwise moving of objects up to 75 pounds and regular movement of lighter objects up to 40 pounds. 2. Routine discomforts such as moderate heat, cold, moisture/wetness, or noise. 3. Includes routine exposure to light chemical substances and occasional exposure to hazardous conditions. 4. Pushing, pulling, reaching, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, stooping, crouching, balancing, repetitive motions, kneeling, walking, climbing.
