Disability Services Note Taker

The Cove Position Summary Description: The purpose of this position is to provide legible class notes to students who are registered for a note taker accommodation through Disability Services at The Cove. The position is a part time hourly for typically 1 - 5 hours per week, depending upon the agreed hired hours. **Your current class schedule & courses will be reviewed for availability. If you are in the same class as the student who needs a note taker, we will contact you. Duties & Responsibilities: - Must be registered in the same course section as the student needing the notes - Make initial contact with student - Provide notes for each class during the semester - Provide comprehensive and legible notes - Deliver notes within 24 hours of the end of class session - Maintain student confidentiality - Communicate problems/concerns to the Disability Services Assistant - Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications: - Must have a 3.0 GPA or higher - Excellent organizational skills - Excellent hand writing and/or typing skills - Provide sample of notes - Strong time management skills - Familiarity with basic office procedures - Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel, Google Docs - Detail oriented - Excellent written communication skills Required Mental/Physical Abilities: - Must be able to sit at a desk for extended periods of time - Must be able to read, analyze and interpret data - Must be able to stay calm during difficult situations - Must be able to converse over the telephone - Must be able to keep student records, conversations and office information confidential - Must be able to lift objects up to 10 pounds on occasion - Must be able to perform basic mathematical equations - Must be able to operate a computer - Must be able to apply established policies and procedures to work - Must be able to prioritize work with minimal supervision on a day-to-day basis

Estimated Wage: $10.45

Estimated Hours Required: 1-5

The Cove Position Summary Description: The purpose of the Peer Tutor position is to provide tutoring services to enrolled CU students in small study groups and with individuals. Tutors assist students with homework, test preparation and overall academic success. Duties and Responsibilities: - Email students regarding any meeting place, date changes, cancellations, etc. in a timely manner - Be punctual, prepared and organized for each tutoring session - Supports and motivates students’ achievements and academic success - Able to work independently - Tutors do not deliver course instruction and do not complete homework with the student - Communicate any problems or concerns with the Tutoring Coordinator - Maintain student confidentiality - Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications: - 3.3 or higher cumulative GPA - Completed & received an A or A- in the course(s) - Recommended by professor(s) - Detail oriented - Excellent communication skills - Good organizational and multi-tasking abilities Required Mental/Physical Abilities: - Must be able to sit at a desk for extended periods of time - Must be able to read, analyze and interpret data - Must be able to stay calm during difficult situations - Must be able to keep student records, conversations and office information confidential - Must be able to lift objects up to 10 pounds on occasion - Must be able to verbally project to audiences for periods of up to one hour - Must be able to operate a computer - Must be able to apply established policies and procedures to work - Must be able to prioritize work with minimal supervision on a week-to-week basis
