What Happens When Christian Kids Go to Secular Colleges?

January 23, 2017

Student carrying boxYour student is in the middle of making one of the most important decisions of his or her life – where to attend college. You may be weighing many issues: cost, location, academic programs. But perhaps the greatest factor you need to consider is this: How will this institution affect my student’s spiritual walk?

Dr. Steve Henderson, founder and president of Christian Consulting for Colleges and Ministries, has done extensive research on what happens to Christian students when they attend secular universities. In an article published on the online Christian College Guide website, Henderson cautions parents about what students will face in a secular university classroom and presents his research findings about the impact on students' faith. Having faced this issue in his own family, he encourages parents to consider the true cost of having a student attend a secular school, and not just the price.

With daily chapel, a required Bible minor built into every academic program, biblical integration in all courses, and intentional discipleship opportunities, your student’s faith will be strengthened at Cedarville. We are committed to equipping students to use their vocation to impact the world for Christ, wherever He leads.

Your FAFSA and Cedarville Financial Aid Notifications

January 13, 2017

FAFSA logoWe are just about ready to send financial aid packages to students who have been accepted for the fall 2017 semester and have submitted their FAFSA. If you have not already done so, please complete your FAFSA this weekend to ensure that your student will be included with our first award  notifications and receive as much financial aid as possible.

The FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is used to consider you for not only government forms of aid, but also for all need-based scholarships from Cedarville. Many students who do not receive federal or state grants DO qualify for Cedarville scholarships.

Once we receive your FAFSA, we will begin preparing your student's personalized financial aid award. Then, next week we will start sending students and parents a financial aid prospectus, which will outline all of the scholarships, grants, work study, and loan opportunities you qualify for.

Please complete your FAFSA now so we can award your student as much aid as possible when we put together your financial aid prospectus.

Visit our Financial Aid website for the most up-to-date information about financial aid at Cedarville.

Need help completing the FAFSA? In October, our Financial Aid office offered a webinar called "Expert Tips for Completing the FAFSA." This one-hour archived presentation will take the mystery out of this government form and assure you avoid delays caused by submitting incomplete or inaccurate information.
