October 27, 2017

red globe with laptopsWondering how to help your student choose a major that is the right fit for their unique gifts and abilities?

Mark your calendar for Tuesday, November 7, at 8 p.m. EST and plan to join us for our next FREE webinar: Keys for Career Exploration.

Statistics tell us that 50–60% of college students will change their major at least once, and 40% get to graduation day and regret their choice of study. And consider this: 65–85% of American adults say they dislike their job.

How can you prevent your son or daughter from becoming another statistic? Keys for Career Exploration will introduce you to what you need to know as you help your student with this all-important decision.

Cedarville University's Director of Career Services and Certified Professional Career Coach Jeff Reep will discuss how students can engage in career exploration early and often. Without it, college freshmen choose majors based on vague ideas of future lifestyle, but without true knowledge of their options or of the ways God has equipped them to serve His purposes. A college education is a significant investment, and selecting a major is an important choice. This practical webinar will help you ask the right questions and provide wise counsel to your student.

Register today, and join the conversation on Tuesday, November 7, at 8 p.m. EST.

Are Online Courses a Good Fit for Your Student?

October 25, 2017

College Now LogoDual credit programs have become an important part of reducing the cost of a college education. Typically, high school students choose general education courses that meet requirements for most any degree – courses in literature, history, psychology, anthropology, or biology, to name a few.

While it is true that students can take these kinds of courses at any liberal arts college, Christian parents recognize the importance of the general education core in shaping their student's view of the world and their place in it. This is why Cedarville University offers many general education courses to high school students through its College Now program. Since many courses are offered online, students living anywhere in the country or around the world can benefit from Cedarville's biblically integrated and rigorous general education courses.

But, online coursework is still somewhat unfamiliar, and parents often have questions about whether their student can be successful in an online course. Today's post offers some insight that will help you understand the differences between learning in a face-to-face classroom versus learning in an online environment.

A Bold, Biblical Approach to Geology

October 20, 2017

Rock formationsAt Cedarville, we approach the study of geology differently from most universities – even ones that call themselves "Christian." As with every program we offer, our geology program boldly acknowledges the Bible as the ultimate framework for research and study, without sacrificing academic excellence. We are unashamed to adhere to a literal, six-day account of creation and recognize God as the Creator of all life. We are honored to be included in Answers in Genesis’ select list of Creation Colleges.

Each year, Dr. John Whitmore, Professor of Geology, leads a group of students on a trip to the Grand Canyon, where they examine geological evidence that supports the biblical account of Creation and Noah's Flood. Read today's post to watch a video to get a taste of this incredible trip.

This bold, biblically integrated education is exactly what your student will experience at Cedarville University.
