Career Fairs and Finding a Job After College

October 17, 2014

Career FairWhile looking for a full-time career may seem several years away for high school juniors and seniors, Cedarville University understands that the career search should begin much sooner than one’s senior year in college and involves more than just filling out applications. Therefore, each year Cedarville’s Career Services office hosts Career Fairs which are open to all students (freshmen through seniors) as well as alumni and the general public.

On October 8, 2014, Cedarville hosted the first of four Career Fairs for the 2014-2015 school year in the Doden Field House. There to meet and interview attendees were 79 companies, including General Motors, Procter and Gamble (P&G), Honda, J.P. Morgan Chase, Dayton Children’s Hospital, Samaritan’s Purse, Reynolds & Reynolds, and Dayton Power and Light.

According to Jeff Reep, Director of Career Services at Cedarville, all students can benefit from attending career fairs. He shares, “Each time a person speaks with a company about potential employment, they develop the skills needed to market themselves. Career fairs give students, alumni, and residents from the community an opportunity to interact with job seekers in a comfortable, one-on one manner.”

Cedarville University has been hosting career fairs for more than 20 years. This is one reason why the University’s career placement rate is 94.2 percent. Last year, the national average, according to the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE), was 85.8%. For further information on how Cedarville assists its students in their job search process, we encourage you to visit the Career Services website.
