We are excited to share that the 2014-2015 academic year is off to a great start! For the eighth consecutive year, Cedarville University is enjoying record enrollment with 3,620 undergraduate, graduate, and online students listed on our class rosters. That is an increase of 5% over last year’s total. President Thomas White shared in the official news release, “[Cedarville has] a vision to be bold with students pursuing their passion and proclaiming Christ. It appears that this vision has appealed to students who want to stand with us for the Word of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ.”

To welcome this record number of students to campus and to jump start the year, Cedarville held its annual Fall Bible Conference August 18 to 21. Students were challenged by speaker Bryan Loritts, Lead Pastor at Fellowship Memphis, a large multi-ethnic church in Memphis, Tennessee. The Springfield, Ohio based ministry, Safe Harbor House, which provides round-the-clock, residential, faith-based programming for women who have a history of substance abuse or trauma was selected to receive all donations made during this year’s Bible conference. During the conference, students generously gave $18,737 to this ministry. Executive Director Amy Willman described the gift as an answer to prayer!

While spiritual development is central to the Cedarville experience, academic excellence drives every major. Cedarville recently received high marks in the Washington Monthly’s annual college rankings poll. Cedarville was ranked 15th nationally and was deemed the best baccalaureate university in Ohio. The ranking among baccalaureate institutions is based on social mobility (recruiting and graduating low-income students), research (producing cutting-edge scholarship and PhDs), and service (encouraging students to give something back to their country).

Giving students the opportunity to sit under the teaching of nationally recognized Bible speakers, like Pastor Loritts, as well as challenging them with highly regarded academic programs sets Cedarville apart!  As you guide your student through the college search process, discuss the importance of Christ-centered higher education and how it can impact them. It is also important to visit a campus like Cedarville to see the difference a rigorous academic program delivered in an authentic Christian community can make!
