Preparing Students for In-Demand Health Care Careers

Preparing Students for In-Demand Health Care Careers

February 6, 2015

According to a recent online Forbes article, “The Best Healthcare Jobs in 2015,” the Bureau of Labor Statistics projects that the health care and social assistance industry will produce one in three new jobs in the U.S. over the next decade. Extended longevity and an aging population are increasing the demand for health care professionals.

Health care also provides a unique opportunity to share the Gospel in compassionate and meaningful ways at an individual's point of great need. That is why Cedarville University has been intentional about offering these in-demand professional programs. If your son or daughter has expressed interest in a helping profession, consider these opportunities:

Our School of Pharmacy offers a direct-entry, seven-year program that culminates in the Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree. The curriculum consists of two parts: a three-year prepharmacy and a four-year advanced professional-level segment. Our students are being taught a Christ-centered, patient-focused approach to pharmacy by professors with outstanding professional credentials.

Our School of Nursing offers both Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Nursing programs. Graduates of our B.S.N. program deliver care from a knowledge base grounded in the Bible, the art and sciences of nursing, the biological and behavioral sciences, and the humanities. Building on that foundation, our M.S.N. program provides in-depth, professional, and advanced practice study. At Cedarville, nursing is much more than learning information and practicing skills. Our students learn how their relationship with God directly influences the nursing care they provide.

Cedarville also prepares students to be successful in other health-related careers. We think these results speak for themselves:

  • Our allied health graduates have a 100% admittance rate into professional programs (physical therapy, occupation therapy, physician assistant, etc.).
  • Our athletic training graduates have a 100% first-time pass rate on the National Athletic Trainers’ Association exam.
  • Our premed students have medical school acceptance rates that consistently outpace national averages. Conducting research in our new state-of-the-art labs, including the opportunity to work with cadavers during their undergraduate experience, our graduates are being placed in some of the top medical schools in the nation.

Cedarville graduates are preparing to meet the demands of 21st century health care as they serve God and others through their calling and vocation.
