Welcome to Parent Prep – Discover Top 4 Ways Parents Support the College Search

October 29, 2019

ParentPrepThank you for subscribing to Cedarville University's ParentPrep resource blog! We are excited to provide information and resources throughout this year for parents who are walking with their students through the college search and decision process.

Every week you will find new posts about important topics, such as financial aid tips and information, ways students can graduate from college with a strong faith, making the most of a campus visit, understanding the application process, and so much more! Last year we had more than 1,300 subscribers, and we would love to continue adding to the Cedarville ParentPrep family. Tell friends, family, or anyone in need of helpful college search advice! Once they subscribe, we'll send an email whenever new posts are added. We'll also be providing helpful information about College Now, our program for high school students, so be sure to tell your friends with younger students as well.

Read today's post for our Top 4 recommendations on how you can best help your student through the college search process this year. Although parents usually do not make the final college choice for their student, they do contribute to narrowing down the choices, even before the college search begins. We want to help as you start this all-important journey with your student.

Cedarville's Accelerated Bachelor's to Master's Options Make Education More Affordable

October 24, 2019

Four students in cap and gown at commencementCedarville is always looking for ways to help make our distinctly Christian education affordable and accessible for more families. Last week we mentioned three-year completion options that can help your student complete college sooner, saving time and money. Last year, we took this idea to another level.

We now offer Bachelor's-to-Master's accelerated completion plans. Students can complete a bachelor's degree in select majors plus a Master of Business Administration or Advanced Master of Divinity in just five or six years, and even four years if they choose the three-year B.A. completion plan.

Since all M.B.A. courses are online, your student can begin his or her career while finishing the graduate program. This option saves time and money by completing M.B.A. prerequisites and two M.B.A. core or elective courses as part of the undergraduate curriculum, then completing the M.B.A. in the next 12 months. By combining a B.A. or B.S. with an M.B.A., your student will be more marketable immediately.

Accelerated pathways to the University's Advanced M.Div. are new this year. Students who are interested in using their professional preparation in some type of vocational ministry will find this a great opportunity to prepare. The pathways lay out plans for a student to complete up to 30 hours of Bible credits during their undergraduate years, then move into the accelerated, 61-credit hour Advanced M.Div. program.

We currently have nearly 30 bachelor's-to-master's completion plan options available. Don't see your student's major listed? Talk to us! It's possible that we can create a specific plan just for them.

It's one more way Cedarville is doing all we can to make a distinctly Christian education affordable and accessible for families.

P.S. Encourage your student to apply by October 31, and we'll waive the application fee and send him or her a Cedarville T-shirt! And, we just announced a 3K Spirit Challenge. Any student who applies between now and October 31 will also be entered into a drawing for one of six $1,000 scholarships.
