Cedarville Scholar Awards

Note: This information is valid for new students entering Cedarville in 2011–12.

The Cedarville Scholar Award is a competitive scholarship program. Nine finalists are selected and will receive an award valued at 75% of their tuition! Limited to new freshmen or transfers entering fall 2011, eligible applicants will be evaluated by the scholarship review committee. This committee will evaluate each student's application as well as the recommendation submitted specifically for the Cedarville Scholar Award. Evaluation will include the following:

  • Academic Performance (ACT/SAT & Grade Point average)
  • Recommendation & Leadership Activities
  • Student Essays & College Activities/Goals
  • Awards & Recognitions
  • Potential leadership value to Cedarville University and beyond


To apply the applicant must meet the following criteria:

  • 31+ ACT or 1360+ SAT (math + critical reading scores only)
  • 3.75 high school GPA (unweighted 4.0 scale)
  • Accepted for admission to Cedarville prior to January 15
  • Exceptional recommendation
  • Demonstrated leadership characteristics


Complete the online Cedarville Scholar application

Application Deadline:  January 15th

  • Both the application and recommendation form must be received by Cedarville by January 15


  • Prior to January 15: Apply for admission to Cedarville (preference in review given to accepted students)
  • January 15: Deadline for receipt of all Cedarville Scholar Award application documents (application and recommendation)
  • Last week of January: Semifinalists notified of selection and interview weekend
  • February 25-26: CU Scholars Semifinalist Interview Weekend
  • February 28: CU Scholar Award Finalists notified of selection


75% of tuition (awarded to nine finalists each year)

  • Full-time enrollment required (minimum 12 credit hours per semester at Cedarville)
  • Limited to eight semesters of undergraduate study
  • May not be combined with the National Scholar or Academic Excellence Awards
  • May be combined with other grants and scholarships


Yes - As long as student maintains a Cedarville cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher.
