CU: How Do I Access Google Apps?
Google Mail differs from GroupWise in that there is no “client” or program that you install on your computer. You will always access Google Apps from an Internet browser.
Information Technology recommends using the Google Chrome browser as Google Apps works best with it; in fact, some Google Apps features only work in Google Chrome.
To access Google Chrome on a Cedarville computer, click [Start] > All Programs > Google Chrome and then click the Chrome icon. If the icon is not there, try [Start] > All Programs > CedarNet > Communications.
You can install Chrome on a personal computer by following these steps:
- Open a browser and navigate to google.com/chrome.
- Click [Download Chrome].
- The box to “Set Google Chrome as my default browser” is automatically checked.
- Click [Accept and Install].
- Click [Save File].
- Open “ChromeSetup.exe.”
- Click [Run].
- The Chrome browser will automatically open.
You will find the Google Apps landing page at cedarville.edu/google. Your username and password will not work if you try to log in through Gmail.
You can use the Google Mail shortcut, gmail.cedarville.edu, to log directly into your mail or the Google Calendar shortcut, calendar.cedarville.edu, to log directly into your calendar.
