The following help page will attempt to answer the most frequently asked questions regarding Prezi, what type of software it is and how to decide whether to create a presentation in Prezi or in Microsoft Power Point.


What is Prezi?

Prezi is a free, web-based online presentation tool that allows you to be creative and design some eye-catching presentations with pizzazz. Prezi presentations are often used when you want to keep the audience engaged with the 'WOW Factor' or when you want to highlight many of the bells and whistle features. This type of presentation is great for two way interaction with a classroom full of students and even young children.

What is the difference between Prezi and Power Point?

Prezi is a Bells and Whistles version of Microsoft Power Point. Prezi presentations are created on a blank canvas without pre-made templates or formats. Images such as photos and videos can be inserted horizontally, vertically or at any angle. Audio images can also be added into Prezi.

Power Point is extremely user friendly and provides pre-made slides and layouts to choose from as the base format. Power Point makes it easy for the user to change colors, fonts, and backgrounds. This software offers various interesting options for slide transitions throughout the presentation. Unfortunately, Power Point is not free and it resembles a slide show format.

Which software is the best to use: Prezi or Power Point?

It is truly your choice. Prezi is an innovated new presentation software package with many options that you can design and build from the ground up. It is easy to use and there are unlimited options of how to present and deliver your information. This software has many flashy effects.

With Power Point you can design a traditional presentation with simple, slide show themes that can easily be tweaked and polished. Power Point does all of the behind the scenes work for you. This software is best for simple business presentations that may include graphs, charts, and a large amount of text.

How to Sign Up and Create a Prezi Account?

  1. Navigate to
  2. Select the 'Get Started' menu option.
  3. Select the Free - Public Account.
  4. When prompted for your username, you can enter your email address and create a password.

How to Create a New Prezi Presentation?

  1. Navigate to
  2. Log in with the username and password that you created.
  3. Select 'New Prezi'.
  4. Choose either a template that you like or have saved and select 'Use Template' or Select 'Start a Blank Prezi'.

How to Edit a Prezi Presentation?

  1. Select the 'Prezi Editor' mode.
  2. Hover over the preferred document, Click 'Edit'.
  3. Within Edit & Presentation Mode you can add, delete, or modify any changes to the presentation.
  4. Select the 'PRESENT' Tab to walk through the presentation to see how the edits will change the information.
  5. Press 'ESC Key' let's you exit Present Mode and go back to the Prezi Editor.

How to Insert Files into Prezi?

There are file size limitations of 50mb per file that can be inserted into a Prezi presentation. This file size also includes video files. If the file is larger that 50bmb, then you can post a link within your presentation.

Insert Images:

  1. Select the Insert menu
  2. click 'Image'
  3. Choose either File Storage or Google Images
  4. Double-click or Drag the image into the presentation
  5. Select the Transformation Tool to edit the image

Insert Media & Videos:

  1. Select the Insert menu
  2. click 'You Tube Video' or From File from your computer
  3. Post a link in the box
  4. The Transformation Tool will appear to make any edits

Insert Power Point Files:

  1. Select the Insert menu
  2. click 'Power Point'
  3. Double Click the preferred slide(s) and Click to select one slide or Select All slides
  4. Choose a layout and a path

Insert PDF & Excel Files:

  1. Select the Insert menu
  2. choose 'From File'
  3. choose Find PDF or XLSX and Click 'Open'. The document will be added
  4. The Transformation Tool will appear to make any edits to the file

How to Present your Prezi File?

There are six different options to display or present your Prezi file.

Projector Mode:

  • The Display or Ratio Mode will either be 4:3 or 16:9
  • Select the Gear icon and you can change the ratio settings

Start Zooming Mode:

  • You can Zoom In or Zoom out on one or all objects

Remote Clicker Mode:

  • You can edit the path
  • Click and Drag each or all thumbnails

Auto Play Mode:

  • Select the pace for the presentation speed.
  • You can choose between 4, 10, or 20 seconds between each object and it will auto advance to the next object.

Add Background Music:

  • This option enables both auto play and music.
  • Select the Insert menu.
  • Choose Add Background Music. Open a sound file. 

Voice Over Mode:

  • Click on a thumbnail
  • Select the Insert Menu
  • Add Voice Over to the path step
  • Add a sound file from your PC

How to Publish a Prezi?

There are five options to allow others to view your Prezi presentation.             They are: Public - Reuse - Private - Hidden - Embed.

  • Click on the Prezi file you want to share with others
  • Choose the Privacy Settings
  • Click one of the five options to change the setting

To Embed a Prezi into a website:

  1. Select 'Embed'
  2. Determine the size of the Prezi file
  3. Decide what type of navigation control you want
  4. Highlight the code and copy the code to the clipboard
  5. Paste the code into the website where you want to display the web-link
