Update: Counting Your Student in the U.S. Census

Tuesday, March 31, 2020

We’ve received additional questions about the 2020 Census and how students should be counted, so we want to make sure you have updated information. As you complete your Census, please keep the following in mind:

  • If your student is a full-time residential student, Cedarville University will report him or her for the Census on a "Group Quarters Operation" form that our Registrar is required to complete. You do not need to include your student when completing your Census, even though they are likely at home due to the COVID-19 situation.
  • If your student is a full-time off-campus student, you should list them on your Census but use his or her local Cedarville address as the alternate address. Do not include them at your home address, even if they are currently at home due to the COVID-19 situation.
  • If you have already completed your Census and included your student at your home address, do nothing. The government has checks in place to find duplicated entries.

This "Who To Count" resource from the federal government provides helpful information.
