Ministry Careers and Internships

Co-curricular Opportunities

Cedarville offers many ministry and service organizations to assist in the development of character and ministry skills. Many Bible faculty serve as advisors for these organizations, and students are encouraged to take full advantage of them. The School of Biblical and Theological Studies sponsors:

Chi Delta Nu, an organization that provides encouragement to students entering youth ministry through prayer, fellowship, and service.

Alpha Sigma, an organization devoted to promoting critical thinking through philosophical and theological inquiry into issues central to the biblical worldview and contemporary culture.

Internships

When you are ready to move into full-time ministry, there is no substitute for hands-on experience. An internship is the best way to gain valuable experience and build relationships. Here is a sample of the exciting places where Cedarville Bible students have recently enjoyed internships:

  • Athletes in Action
  • Echoing Hills Village
  • Far Hills Community Church
  • Phoenix Fellowship Baptist Church - Durban, South Africa
  • Kids Alive International - Dominican Republic
  • Living Waters Bible Camp
  • Scioto Hills Camp and Retreat Center
  • TEAM (The Evangelical Alliance Mission) - Antalya, Turkey

It helps to have an edge. And while Cedarville University students receive world-class instruction from their professors as they prepare to pursue careers in their chosen fields, the wise collegian knows that a degree and a good GPA simply aren't enough in an increasingly competitive job market. To succeed, they need real life, hands-on experience.

Enter internships... or more precisely, "discipline-related experiences." Jeff Reep, director of career services, stresses the importance of these short-term forays into the professional world. "A student who graduates with only a degree is at a disadvantage," he explains. "They'll be competing against other graduates who have had two or even three internships."
