Christine Kim

Christine Kim, PhD

Assistant Professor of International Studies

Biography

Dr. Christine Kim is a native of South Korea. Before joining the academic world, she worked as an interpreter for Korean national and local governments and as a simultaneous interpreter in various settings. During her career as an interpreter, she worked closely with the former Mayor of Seoul and the Prime Minister of Korea. In that capacity, she met with many global leaders and celebrities, including U.N. Secretary General Kofi Annan, U.S. Vice President Al Gore, Jackie Chan, and governors and mayors of major capital cities around the world. She has also traveled extensively and engaged in various international affairs and activities.

  • M.A. in International Relations, Syracuse University
  • M.A. in Translation and Simultaneous Interpretation (English-Korean), Hankuk University of Foreign Studies
  • B.A. in English Language and Literature, Korea Open University

Interests

  • Interests: Watching movies, playing Baduk (Chinese Weiqi or Japanese Go), learning languages (currently French), taking walks with my son
  • Why Cedarville?:Truly, I am what I am by the grace of God. I asked, sought, and knocked on the door of Cedarville University. With the Lord’s grace and favor, the door opened and I am here. I believe I am called to be a fisher of men, and Cedarville University is literally the lake where I cast the net. I am honored and privileged to come to make disciples here, and interact with godly men and women.
