Scott Long

Scott Long, DNP, APRN-CNP, CCRN

Biography

Professor Scott Long has been a nurse since 2004, serving in the ICU with trauma and cardio-thoracic surgery population. He also spent time as critical care flight nurse for eight years. In 2017, he completed an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner program and has been practicing as an NP in critical care. At Cedarville, he was an adjunct instructor for two years prior to accepting a full-time position teaching complex care and pharmacology courses. HIs research interests include the utilization of ultrasound in critical care and disaster medicine response.

Why Cedarville?

I had a nursing professor in undergrad always challenge us to seek ways to "pay it forward" in nursing, I sought ways to do that in my career, but I wanted to incorporate Jesus and the Gospel into this teaching as well. That is where the decision to come to Cedarville and teach was one that was directed by God. The opportunity to invest in the next generation of nurses with the knowledge and skills that I had acquired over my time of practice, along with the experiences that God had given me, is exciting. With that being said, it is my desire to grow this spirit of Christian ministry in each student, using God's Word as a foundation to promote godly living and critical thinking. I consider it a privilege to impact future generations of nurses.
