Stefano Barone, an internationally renowned guitarist, will perform at the Columbus, Ohio-based International Center for Creativity (ICC) on Thursday, March 31, at 7:30 p.m., in the first of a series of special events to support the ICC’s new student scholarship fund.
Cedarville University partners with the ICC to offer upperclassmen innovative and industrial design majors a two-year experience in a hands-on, “craft-centric” experience at its studios. At the ICC’s campus, students can specialize in consumer product design, transportation design, interior space design or architectural and exterior space design.
A portion of the proceeds from the event will be placed in a scholarship fund for ICC students. The new scholarships will be awarded to students beginning with the fall semester of the 2016-17 academic year.
Barone is an award-winning film composer and musician from Naples, Italy, and is currently on his first North American tour. His compositions have been used for documentary films, ballets and animated films.
Barone also composed the score for “Packard: The Last Shift,” a documentary about the 1954 closing of the Packard Motor Car Company plant in Detroit, Michigan. The film premiered at the 2014 Detroit Free Press Film Festival.
He is also a music teacher, director and founder of the Istituto Massimo Guitar Orchestra (20 elements guitar ensemble) in Rome, Italy.
Jim Stevenson, president of the ICC, is excited about innovative opportunities to raise scholarship money for ICC students as the program continues to develop.
“This is just the first in a series of creative and innovative fundraising events that we’re still in the process of planning,” said Stevenson. “I love events like this, which give us an opportunity to bring people together in one place to celebrate creativity.”
