Leadership Conference Provides Unique Training

by Rae McKee, Public Relations Writer

An integral part of Cedarville University’s mission is to teach and train students to become leaders. A key component to that mission, the annual CU LEADership Conference, will take place on January 22-23.

The conference is open to high school juniors and seniors, Cedarville students who desire to lead, and current Cedarville student leaders. Each group is put into separate tracks during breakout sessions, but all students will hear the keynote speakers, who will talk to students about stewardship, influence and service to others.

Brian Burns, director of student life programs at Cedarville, noted that the conference is a great way to build on many of the aspects of Christian leadership that students learn in the classroom.

“Oftentimes, students graduate with the knowledge or examples of leadership, but they don’t know how to apply those examples to their life,” said Burns. “This conference is an easy way for a student to learn exactly what Christian leadership outside of the classroom looks like.”

Keynote speakers include Thomas White, Ph.D., president of Cedarville University; Jeremy Kimble, Ph.D., assistant professor of theology; and Lt. Gen. (Ret.) Loren Reno, M.S., interim vice president for academics and professor of management

This year, a group of Cedarville students will have an even greater impact on the conference, as they are scheduled to teach several of the sessions for high school students.

For more information about the conference, visit www.cedarville.edu/Event/Leadership-Conference or contact Brian Burns at burnsb@cedarville.edu. Registration ends January 15.

In order to help participants make the most of their time during the conference, Cedarville has created an app at the Google Play Store called "CU Leadership 2016." The app includes a schedule of events, presentation notes, and other helpful information.
