For Students, On-Campus Employment Abounds

by Madi Cannon, Public Relations Writer

As college costs continue to rise across the nation, Cedarville University is committed to providing a quality and affordable education. The Student Loan Report, a student loan news resource, recently ranked Cedarville No. 40 for the best university-provided part-time employment.

Cedarville offers 1,600 part-time jobs on campus, which are a great opportunity for students to cover college expenses. Campus jobs are open to all students, regardless of whether they qualify for the Federal Work Study Program.

Colleges and universities were ranked according to the total number of reported part-time campus jobs.

Students who work one of Cedarville’s part-time jobs can ease the burden of college costs by helping to pay for typical expenses such as food and books. Working part-time also develops a student’s work ethic, according to Drew Cloud, founder of Student Loan Report.

“Working a part-time job throughout college is hard, but it teaches valuable lessons in time management, multi-tasking and project planning,” Cloud said.

Students at Cedarville can gain valuable work experience — often within their field of study — and learn skills that they can apply to internships and future careers.

“Working as a student prepared me for the workforce,” said Abigail Hile, a 2016 graduate and Cedarville’s admissions campus experience coordinator. “It allowed me to practice what I had learned in the classroom and made me feel more prepared when I started my first post-grad job.”
