CU Welcomes Neighbors on Farmers Night

by Michaela Carpenter, Public Relations Writer

Cedarville University will host area residents to its annual “Farmers Night” on February 18. The event is in cooperation with Lou Vision of Vision Investment Planning of Raymond James at the Greene.

Started by Dr. Paul Dixon, former president and current chancellor of Cedarville University, Farmers Night is a community outreach event designed to build relationships with and show appreciation for the local farming community.

“We have the blessing of being surrounded by a lot of farmers,” said Amanda Gillispie, director of donor relations and events at Cedarville. “We just want to thank them for what they do and the work they put into the community, because we really benefit from that.”

This year’s Farmers Night will welcome nearly 200 people from local farming families to campus. Guests will be treated to a buffet dinner and hear a brief update from Cedarville University president Dr. Thomas White.

The event creates a better sense of community, Gillispie explained. Local farmers hear what is happening at the university, and students in Cedarville’s pre-agriculture program interact with and learn from people in the farming community.

After dinner, Joe Mullins and the Radio Ramblers will perform a free bluegrass concert at 7:30 p.m. in the DeVries Theatre. While the dinner is by invitation only, the concert is open to the public.
