One Thousand Days Transformed - The Campaign for Cedarville
Cedarville alumni relations Easter Egg Hunt

Easter Egg Hunt is One of CU's Great Traditions

by Brenna Zuranski, Public Relations Writer

Searching for Easter eggs at Cedarville University has been a long-standing tradition. Representatives from the alumni relations office will scatter 4,000 plastic Easter eggs around the 400-acre campus, but the exact date is kept a secret to build suspense and excitement.

Delta Alpha Epsilon (DAE), the alumni relations and annual giving's service organization that represents the student body to alumni, hosts the annual event the week before Easter break.

“The event speaks to the care Cedarville has for its students beyond academics and spiritual growth,” said Noah Shinabarger, a student member of DAE. “Both are important, but the university also cares that students have fun, enjoy themselves and relax when they need to.”

DAE will hide the eggs beginning at 4:30 a.m. and students can start collecting them at 7 a.m. Students will turn their eggs in to the alumni relations office in exchange for a prize. Some eggs will bring the students a piece of candy; others will net larger prizes from the small golden eggs and the large golden egg.

Small golden eggs can be turned in for prizes such as a hammock, an exclusive coffee set and a parking pass that allows you to park anywhere around the university. The large golden egg is harder to find and clues will be sent to students via email. It can be turned in for a more elaborate prize, such as a TV, Apple Watch or PS4.

“I’m eager to help with the hunt because it’s a way to get students excited about celebrating Easter and it speaks to the holistic care the university has toward its students by not only providing a Christ-centered education, but also making fun memories,” said Shinabarger.
