Veterans Day Chapel Honors Miami Valley Vets

by Natalia Kirychuk, Public Relations Writer

Cedarville University will honor the military at its annual Veterans Day program on Friday, Nov. 11, at 10 a.m. in the Dixon Ministry Center. Representatives from all branches of the military will be recognized at the one-hour event. Maj. Gen. Dondi Costin, chief of chaplains for the United States Air Force, will be this year’s speaker.

Costin, a native of Wilmington, North Carolina, is a member of the special staff of the Air Force’s chief of staff. In this role, Costin guides and provides advice on all matters pertaining to the religious and moral welfare of Air Force personnel. As chief of chaplains, he is the senior pastor for more than 664,000 active-duty, guard, reserve and civilian forces serving in the U.S. and overseas.
Additionally, Costin leads an Air Force Chaplain Corps of approximately 2,000 chaplains and chaplain assistants from the active-duty and Air Reserve components. As a member of the Armed Forces Chaplain Board, he and his colleagues advise the secretary of defense and the joint chiefs of staff on religious, ethical and quality-of-life concerns.

“It is good to pay honor to whom honor is due,” said Beth Porter, chair of the department of music and worship and the organizer for the event. “The chapel service will be a grand time of both honoring and remembering our military.”
