Singles 2 Doubles Disc Golf

  • Registration Dates: August 20 – 24
  • Play Begins: August 26
  • Purpose of Event: The main purpose of this event is to introduce the game of disc golf to more of our students, faculty and staff members. A secondary purpose is to provide an event for our "more experienced" players to enjoy a few hours of playing disc golf in a low-pressure environment where the goals are to have fun, meet new friends and help others learn and enjoy the game of disc golf.
  • Format: This will be a one-day event played Saturday, August 26
  • Cost: This event is FREE of charge and includes bagels and juice!
  • Event Schedule: Singles 2 Doubles Disk Golf Event
    • 10 – 10:15 a.m. – check-in
    • 10:30 – 11:45 p.m. – Play 9 holes (short tees front nine) individually in small groups.
    • 11:45 a.m. – 12:15 p.m. – Take a short bagel break while players are paired up based on scores.
    • 12:15 – 3 p.m. – Play 18 holes as teams of two using alternating shots.

Disk Golf League (Singles)

  • Registration Dates: August 20 – 26
  • Play Begins: September 5
  • Format: We will play four weeks of prelim rounds plus two weeks of final rounds. We will take the top two scores during the prelim rounds and combine it with the two final rounds to determine the A & B League champions.

  • Format: The plan is for all teams to play 3 or 4 round robin matches first (pool play) with the top teams entering a single elimination tournament to determine the overall championship team for each gender.
  • Number of players per team: Minimum – 15, Maximum – 22, During Play – 11
    • No more than four players who in the past have played college level varsity or JV soccer on any one team (see Eligibility Guidelines below for more details).
  • Officials: 2 game officials will be provided for each game. Anyone interested in working as a soccer game official should plan to attend the official’s clinic planned for Wednesday, August 31 at 7:00 pm in CAL 203.

Eligibility Guidelines from our Intramural Sports Handbook:

  1. A student who is a member of any intercollegiate varsity athletic team, or who is red–shirting for a varsity team, or who at one time during the school year was a member of a varsity team and has been declared academically ineligible, or is working out (practicing) with a varsity team and continues to do so past that teams first regular season game (including transfer students), is not eligible to participate in the same, or similar intramural sport during the academic year in which they are so listed.
  2. A student who is a member of any junior varsity (JV) intercollegiate athletic team, or who at one time during the school year was a member of a JV team and has been declared academically ineligible, or is working out (practicing) with a JV team and continues to do so past that teams first regular season game (including transfer students), is not eligible to participate in the same, or similar intramural sport during the semester in which they are so listed. Once a player finishes his JV season in the fall (i.e. basketball, volleyball, soccer) and does not move up to the varsity squad, he/she may participate in the same or similar intramural sport the following semester (spring).
  3. Former intercollegiate Varsity athletes may participate the year following their intercollegiate involvement. Former intercollegiate JV athletes may participate the semester following their intercollegiate JV involvement. Any one intramural team is limited to the following number of former varsity and JV players:
  4. Basketball and volleyball - no more than 2 ex Varsity * or JV players on an intramural volleyball, wallyball or basketball team
  5. Soccer - no more than 4 ex Varsity * or JV players on an intramural soccer team

* Players who were considered "starters" and started at least half of the games on a varsity team will count as two ex-players

  • Registration Dates: August 27 – September 2
  • Play Begins: September 11
  • Format: All teams will play 3–4 round robin games first (pool play) with the top teams entering a combined single elimination tournament to determine the overall champion.
  • Number of players per team: Minimum – 9, Maximum – 16, During Play – 7
  • Officials: Officials will not be used for Ultimate Frisbee. Players will be expected to call their own games.
  • Limitations: No more than four club ultimate team members (either current year or past years) can play on any one intramural ultimate team.
  • Playing Days/Times: When signing up a team, find out from your teammates which days and times would work out best and indicate your team’s three most preferred days/time to play along with your team’s major conflicts (when your team will be unable to play).

Doubles Spikeball

  • Registration Dates: September 3-7

  • Format: This will be a one-day event held Saturday, September 9. The format will depend on the number of registrants. The plan is to play pool play, leading to single elimination playoffs for both genders. Participants should be free to play between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Flag Football

  • Registration Dates: September 3 – 9
  • Play Begins: September 18
  • Format: The plan is for all teams to play 3 or 4 round robin matches first (pool play) with the top teams entering a single elimination tournament to determine the overall championship team for each gender.
  • Number of players per team: Minimum – 10, Maximum – 16, During Play – 7
  • Officials: We hope to have enough game officials to provide 3 officials for every game. To do that, every team will be responsible for sending at least two players to the official’s clinic and willing to work at least one or two games per week (at times their team is not playing). The Flag Football Official’s clinic will be held Tuesday, September 6 at 7 pm in CAL 203 (conference room by elevator in Callan).
  • Divisions: Women's, Men's A (higher skill), & Men's B (average skill)

  • Format: All teams will play 3 – 5 round robin games first with the top teams entering a combined single elimination tournament to determine the overall championship team.
  • Number of players per team: Minimum – 6, Maximum – 12, During Play – 6 (3 men & 3 women)
    • Teams must have at least 4 players on the court to start, or continue a match, but not more than 6. Teams may never have more men on the court than women.
    • Legal number of players would include: 3 men & 3 women, 2 men & 3 women, 2 men & 2 women, and 1 man & 3 women.
    • No more than two players who in the past have played college level varsity, JV, or club volleyball may play on any one team (see Eligibility Guidelines below for more details).
  • Officials: Officials will NOT be used during pool play but may be added for playoff matches
  • Divisions: A (Higher skill) & B (Average skill and below)

3 Player Basketball Leagues

  • Registration Dates: September 3 – 9
  • Play Begins: September 18
  • Format: All men’s teams will play pool play (3 – 5 round robin games first) with the top teams entering a combined single elimination tournament to determine the overall championship team. The women will either play pool play and then a playoff (if there are more than 7 teams) or a simple round robin format within one league (with the team with the best record being declared the championship team).
  • Number of players per team: Minimum – 4, Maximum – 6, During Play – 3
  • Officials: There will be one score keeper and one game official provided for each game. Anyone interested in becoming a basketball score keeper or official should attend the appropriate meeting/clinics. The Score Keeper’s meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, September 6, 2023 at 7:00 p.m. in CAL 203. The Official's Clinic will be held the same evening, in the same location, at 8:00 pm.
  • Divisions:
    • Women's (open - no difference in skill between leagues)
    • Men's A (higher skill) and B (average skill)

Bike Ride to Young’s Dairy

    • Approximately an 18 – 20 mile bike trip starting at the fitness center

Hiking Trip to Hocking Hills

Travel with us by van Saturday, September 30th to the beautiful Hocking Hills State Park in southeast Ohio (a two-hour ride). We will be hiking up to 6-7 miles during the day, seeing Old Man’s Cave, Cedar Falls, Ash Cave and possibly Conkle’s Hollow. The cost of this trip is only $10.00 and includes transportation and lunch. Students will need to bring along some money to pay for dinner on the way home. Registration will be open to the first 20 students to sign up in person at the Fitness Center front desk starting Tuesday September 19 and closing Thursday, September 28.
