Students Administer Vaccines During Flu Season
Pharmacy students from Cedarville are administering flue vaccines throughout the Miami Valley.
Third-year professional students from the Cedarville University School of Pharmacy are administering flu vaccines to employees at various companies as well as the general public throughout the Miami Valley.
Students in their third year of the pharmacy program are required to complete 100 hours of service learning during the academic year, vaccination clinics being one of the many type of experiences.
A total of 47 students have been traveling to different area locations up to six times a week, where clinics run from 6 a.m. – 5 p.m. Students have been participating in vaccination clinics at Meijer, Walgreens, and within the Kettering Health Network.
In addition, clinics are also being run at Dayton Women’s Expo, Clopay Building Products, All-Service Plastic Molding and Veterans of Foreign Wars USA.
“The mission of the school of pharmacy is to provide students opportunities to serve our community with an emphasis on underserved areas, with the hope that students will lead in similar areas as they move into their future career,” said Thad Franz, Pharm.D., assistant professor of pharmacy and director of experiential programs.
