Cedarville professor awarded prestigious radio honor

Bill Montgomery, Cedarville adjunct instructor and alumnus, was honored with the 2017 Radio Ink Radio Wayne Award for Local Sales Manager of the Year.


Bill Montgomery, a 1993 graduate of Cedarville University, was presented Radio Ink’s 2017 Radio Wayne Award for being the Local Sales Manager of the Year. The award ceremony was held in Austin, Texas, on September 7.

Montgomery is Chief Sales Officer at 104.9 The River (WCVO-FM) in Columbus, Ohio. The River is a Christian radio station with a mission to encourage others and point them to Christ. Montgomery has worked at the station since 2008, and he also serves as an adjunct instructor of broadcasting and digital media at Cedarville University.

The Radio Ink Radio Wayne Awards recognize outstanding managers and sellers of airtime in the radio industry.

“As honoring it is to receive this award, I recognize the impact so many people from Cedarville University have had on my life and professional career,” Montgomery said. “This award represents the many people who've influenced me, like 1983 grad Mike Reed, Professor Jim Leightenheimer and the many other great managers I’ve worked with throughout my career. I am truly appreciative to everyone who has been part of my professional life.”
