Combining health care with missions was the reason several students from Cedarville University’s School of Pharmacy attended the 2023 Global Mission Health Conference in Louisville, Kentucky, this past November.

The goal of the three-day conference was to help spread the gospel throughout the world through health care workers, organizations, and college students. For the Cedarville students who attended, the conference further opened their minds to health care missions.

Eveline Youte, a student in Cedarville’s Doctor of Pharmacy program, came away from the conference energized by the possibilities of using her education for global mission's opportunities.

“It was one of the best experiences of my life,” Youte said. “The conference provided us with information to get involved in worldwide medical mission trips to serve those in need.”

At the conference, Youte, from Kiskeya, Haiti, attended breakout sessions and presentations by plenary speakers. She also benefited from interacting with health care and missions organizations in the exhibit hall.

“My heart, mind, and soul were encouraged after each event I attended,” Youte said. “The worship, the plenary sessions and life experiences from the speakers taught me how to be ready to serve in the medical mission field. I left with motivation to start preparing for missions and to be open to God’s plan to send me wherever he chooses.”

Her immediate desire is to serve in the United States and eventually go back to Haiti with enough experience to serve people there in a way that provides good health care with a biblical focus.

“My heart longs to one day serve back in Haiti, the Dominican Republic and even the Republic of the Congo,” Youte said. “Cedarville has allowed me to visualize how to use my pharmacy degree for the expansion of the kingdom of God.”
