About the B.S. in Exercise Science Degree

Cedarville’s distinctly Christian exercise science major will prepare you for careers in the health and fitness industry, corporate wellness programs, and sports training. You will also be prepared to pursue graduate education in exercise physiology and physical therapy. You will graduate able to assess cardiovascular risks, perform fitness testing, assist in lifestyle modifications, plan and execute exercise programs for all fitness levels, as well as address the spiritual needs of your clients.

Opportunities to Learn Outside the Classroom

Internships — You will complete a full semester internship as the capstone course for the Exercise Science major. Recent students have completed internships at Dayton Children’s Hospital; Duke Diet and Fitness Center; Kettering Sports Medicine; Cooper Clinic in Dallas, Texas; D1 Sports Training and Therapy at Ohio State University’s Recreation and Physical Activity Center, among others.

Health and Fitness Association (HAFA) — Student organization provides service and fellowship opportunities for those interested in health and fitness. The organization hosts the Mini Arnold Strength Competition on campus each year.

Research collaboration — You will have the opportunity to collaborate on research projects with professors and fellow students, including having your research published.

Practicums — You will spend 30 hours getting hands-on experience during your campus and community practicums.

Exercise Science Program Curriculum

Building on your core liberal arts and Bible minor courses, you will take a range of courses including Anatomy and Physiology I and II, General Psychology, and exercise science disciplines.

This major is offered with a B.A-to-master's accelerated completion plan.
