Sheryl Hooley, MBA, CPA
Assistant Professor of AccountingBiography
Sheryl “Sheri” Hooley began her professional journey in the world of numbers and tax forms. In her role as Senior Tax Accountant at Switzer, Roy, and Jones CPAs, she worked directly with complex client portfolios, compliance issues, and the cadence of the tax-season treadmill.
Over time, she realized that while the numbers were satisfying, she was increasingly drawn toward teaching, mentoring, and translating those technical matters into meaningful insights for others. This shift led her into education: She taught personal finance and accounting at Worthington Christian High School, where she combined her accounting expertise with a passion for preparing students for real-world financial decisions.
In 2025, Sheri felt God’s leading to accept a position as an Assistant Professor of Accounting in the Robert W. Plaster School of Business at Cedarville. In this role, she draws directly on her CPA/financial practice background to educate undergraduate students — helping them grasp accounting principles not just as abstract theory but as tools to make wise, ethical decisions. Her time as a hands-on tax accountant enriches her classroom: She brings practical examples, client service mindset, and real financial implications into play, helping students recognize that their work is a calling that can reflect faith, integrity, and service. She encourages her students to approach their careers with competence and character, grounded in a Christ-centered purpose.

Why Cedarville?
Teaching at Cedarville University brings me deep joy because it allows me to integrate my faith in Jesus Christ with the mission of equipping students for lifelong leadership and service through excellence and a biblical worldview. I value being part of a university that places Christ at the center of every discipline and academic rigor and spiritual growth work hand in hand. In my classroom, I seek to model this integration — helping my students see accounting as a way to honor God through integrity, stewardship, and service to others.
