In this session from The Synergy Initiative, Dr. Jeremy Kimble, Professor of Systematic and Applied Theology and Director of the Synergy Initiative at Cedarville University, explains how these four areas must remain balanced, why they are often pitted against one another, and how churches can grow by integrating all of them.

Dr. Kimble emphasizes that churches must resist the temptation to become a “theology church,” “mission church,” or “leadership church” that looks down on others. Instead, every church should pursue a balanced commitment to sound doctrine, spiritual formation, disciple-making mission, and raising up leaders.
Key themes include the necessity of Scripture as the baseline for all ministry, the call to maturity and Christlikeness in formation, the urgency of evangelism and disciple-making, and the importance of equipping and multiplying leaders with both character and competencies.
Church leaders are encouraged to take inventory of these four areas—individually and corporately—asking where imbalances exist and how to pursue greater faithfulness. With God’s grace, dependence on prayer, and commitment to His Word, churches can experience growth and multiplication through a holistic approach to discipleship and leadership.
