In this video, Dr. Jason Lee, former Dean of the School of Biblical and Theological Studies at Cedarville University, explains why there’s a better way to prepare for pastoral ministry. Drawing from his own experience completing a four-year undergraduate degree, a three-year MDiv, and a PhD, Dr. Lee shares how traditional seminary pathways often create unnecessary overlap for students who already hold an undergraduate Bible degree.
Many seminaries begin Bible and theology training at the introductory level because they cannot assume prior biblical knowledge. While that model serves many students well, it can be frustrating for those who have already completed substantial Bible coursework. Cedarville’s accelerated BA + MDiv program removes this wasted overlap, covering the same core areas — Bible, theology, languages, and ministry — in just five years.
By streamlining the curriculum, students save both time and money. The first three years follow the standard undergraduate tuition rate, while tuition is cut in half during years four and five.
