Cedarville University’s geology program stands out for its hands-on learning, beginning as early as freshman year. In courses like physical geology and historical geology, students participate in field trips to places like Cuyahoga Valley National Park, Cedarville Gorge, and other local sites, gaining exposure to world-class geological features. These experiences continue across the country with trips to Salt Lake City, Colorado, Anza-Borrego in California, Sedona, and the Grand Canyon, where students actively measure and analyze formations like the Coconino Sandstone.
The program integrates a Christian worldview, teaching students to think biblically about geology while also engaging with conventional timescales and models. This dual approach strengthens critical thinking and equips graduates to navigate multiple perspectives with confidence. Students are prepared for graduate school or immediate entry into the workforce, supported by strong faculty guidance and real-world experience.
