Artificial intelligence is changing how students learn, write, create, build relationships, and prepare for their careers.
In this Cedarville University chapel panel, faculty and staff discuss how Christians can think biblically, wisely, and critically about AI. Panelists include:
Dr. Thomas White ā University President and Professor of Systematic Theology
Cam Arminio ā Director of Career Services
Dr. Alicia McCartney ā Associate Professor of English
Alina Leo ā Assistant Professor of Management
Dr. John Delano ā Associate Dean for Graduate Programs, Robert W. Plaster School of Business, and Professor of Information Technology Management
The conversation moves beyond asking what AI can do for us to consider an equally important question: What is AI doing to us? Panelists explore the opportunities AI provides while examining its potential effects on human formation, critical thinking, creativity, relationships, education, and work.

The panel emphasizes that education is about more than producing a polished final product. Writing, critical thinking, foundational knowledge, judgment, character, and hard work are part of the process of formation. Students are challenged to consider when AI supplements their thinking and when it begins replacing the difficult work through which they learn and grow.
The discussion also addresses AI companionship and embodied Christian community, encouraging students to prioritize relationships with friends, professors, pastors, mentors, and others rather than allowing artificial intelligence to substitute for genuine human connection.
Ultimately, Cedarville students are encouraged to develop judgment, ownership, character, commitment, and competence while learning to use AI wisely. The goal is not simply to keep pace with new technology, but to steward it faithfully while remaining committed to Christ, biblical authority, meaningful relationships, and work that glorifies God.
