Across North America, thousands of Protestant churches are closing each year, outpacing the number of new churches being planted. Even before the COVID-19 pandemic, LifeWay Research reported that 4,500 churches closed while only 3,000 were started. Today, that gap continues to grow, highlighting an urgent need for faithful Gospel proclamation and intentional church multiplication. At Cedarville University, the Synergy Initiative was created to address this challenge head-on by equipping students to make a lasting Kingdom impact.
Synergy is about the combined power of believers working together — greater than individuals working alone. Through this initiative, Cedarville seeks to train, equip, and send students into a variety of ministry contexts, ready to plant, revitalize, and multiply churches. Whether or not you feel called to pastoral ministry, every believer has a role in making disciples and advancing the Great Commission. The Synergy Initiative provides events, resources, and support to complement your academic training so you can graduate prepared to serve.
The need is real, and the opportunity is now. If you have a heart for Great Commission work, Cedarville invites you to be part of something bigger — joining a movement focused on discipleship and church multiplication around the world.
