In this Cedarville University theology lecture, you’ll explore how Scripture provides the drama, doctrine, doxology, and discipleship that form the Christian life. The professor explains how the grand storyline of the Bible builds theology, which then shapes worship, ethics, and leadership. You’ll learn why theology is not just knowledge for its own sake but a lived pursuit that helps you follow Christ and lead others toward him.
This presentation examines how biblical doctrine shapes everyday life. You will hear why you cannot lead others spiritually unless you are walking with God yourself, and why every Christian must think theologically in conversations, culture, and personal decisions. Passages such as Isaiah 43, Isaiah 48, 1 Corinthians 10, Colossians 3, Psalm 16, Psalm 34, and Philippians 1 demonstrate that God created us for his glory and for our joy in him. The lecture shows how glorifying God and finding satisfaction in God are not competing goals but one road — life in Christ.
Dr. Kimble also models how theology applies to real issues such as technology habits, rest, spiritual disciplines, and struggling with sins of impatience, pride, or misplaced identity. Using a fruit-to-root diagram, he explains how repentance involves identifying false beliefs about ourselves and about God, then replacing them with gospel truth. This practical framework highlights how theology forms virtue and leads to deeper sanctification.
You will also learn the four primary sources of theology: Scripture as the authoritative foundation, Christian tradition as a helpful guide, creation as a display of God’s attributes, and reason and experience as tools that must be submitted to the Word. The lecture emphasizes that every Christian is a theologian — the only question is whether we are faithful or careless with what we believe about God.
This session is ideal for students exploring the Bible minor, theology majors, ministry leaders, or anyone seeking a clearer understanding of how doctrine shapes life, joy, and mission. 🌍
