This theology lecture begins with a review of pneumatology, emphasizing that the Holy Spirit is fully divine and fully personal. Students revisit key biblical evidence showing that the Spirit is God, is part of the Trinity, and possesses intellect, emotions, and will. The class then highlights a major shift between the Old Testament and the New Testament. In the Old Testament, the Spirit empowered specific leaders temporarily, while in the New Testament, every believer receives the Spirit permanently through the New Covenant.

The book of Acts becomes the central focus, showing how the Spirit transforms fearful disciples into bold witnesses. Pentecost in Acts 2 is examined closely, including the imagery of wind and fire, the speaking of real languages, and the global scope of the gospel. Students learn why Acts must be read carefully as a narrative, distinguishing between what the text describes and what it prescribes for the church today.

A major portion of the class clarifies three key doctrines: the baptism of the Holy Spirit, the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, and the filling of the Holy Spirit. Baptism and indwelling occur once at conversion, bringing believers into the body of Christ. Filling, however, is an ongoing reality that empowers believers for boldness, obedience, and ministry. Scripture shows that being filled with the Spirit is closely connected to being filled with the Word of Christ.

The lecture also addresses how the Spirit guides believers today, primarily through Scripture rather than extraordinary signs, and how sanctification and spiritual growth flow from walking in step with the Spirit. The class concludes by introducing spiritual gifts, emphasizing that every believer receives gifts from the Spirit for the common good of the church.
