This theology lecture explores some of the most discussed and debated topics in eschatology. Students begin by tracing the biblical teaching on the Antichrist, drawing from Daniel, the Gospels, Paul’s letters, John’s epistles, and Revelation. These passages show a consistent picture of a future lawless figure who opposes God, deceives the nations, and is ultimately defeated by Christ.
The class then examines the doctrine of the rapture, emphasizing that all Christians affirm Christ will gather His people to Himself, but differ on when this occurs in relation to the tribulation. Pre-tribulational, mid-tribulational, and post-tribulational views are presented fairly, with attention to the biblical texts used to support each position.
Attention then turns to the millennium in Revelation 20. Students are introduced to the three primary millennial views: amillennialism, postmillennialism, and premillennialism. Each view is explained with its strengths, challenges, and theological implications, helping students see why interpretation of Revelation 19–20 is so important for understanding the sequence of end-time events.
Throughout the lecture, students are reminded that eschatology should lead to humility, faithfulness, and hope. While Christians may disagree on timelines and details, they are united in affirming Christ’s bodily return, final judgment, and the establishment of God’s eternal kingdom.
