This distinctly Christian program prepares you to teach students in grades K–12 with mild to moderate disabilities while demonstrating Christ-like love in the classroom. Through biblically integrated coursework and meaningful hands-on learning, you’ll gain the knowledge, skills, and compassion needed to make a lasting impact.
From your freshman year, you’ll begin clinical experiences that build toward more than 500 hours of real-world practice. You’ll work with diverse learners in both traditional and distance learning environments, developing practical teaching strategies grounded in a biblical worldview. Cedarville’s experienced education faculty model thoughtful, Christ-centered teaching, equipping you to lead your own classroom with confidence.
During your senior year, your coursework and field experience come together as you student-teach in an alternative high school setting. You’ll observe, co-teach, and learn alongside a mentor teacher, applying what you’ve studied to real classroom situations. Graduates are prepared to teach in public, private, Christian, urban, and mission school settings.
Cedarville’s accreditation allows you to earn an Ohio teaching license for mild to moderate disabilities, which is transferable to other states with licensure requirements. You’ll also qualify for certification through the Association of Christian Schools International, expanding your opportunities to serve globally.
