The university has now received commitments of $99.2 million, including a $1 million grant from The Schiewetz Foundation of Dayton, Ohio. The family foundation’s gift will be used in the construction of the Lorne C. Scharnberg Business Center, which will be located between the Stevens Student Center and Dixon Ministry Center near Cedar Lake.

“We are grateful for the support of The Schiewetz Foundation,” said White. “Through the Foundation's generosity, we will construct a beautiful, state-of-the-art facility to house our School of Business. The new facility will reflect the excellence of our undergraduate and graduate programs, provide teaching and collaboration spaces for our faculty, and accommodate the growing number of students. Most importantly, we will continue to transform students' lives through excellent education and intentional discipleship.”

This is the foundation’s first grant awarded to Cedarville University.

“We are very excited to be a part of Cedarville's growth and success,” said Rick Schwartz, president of The Schiewetz Foundation. “Cedarville students have the values and motivation that we need in today’s business world, and we believe this new facility, along with Cedarville’s academic commitment to free enterprise, aligns perfectly with our values and mission.”

Construction on the $38 million Scharnberg Business Center is tentatively scheduled to begin this fall, or as soon as funding is finalized. The building will provide classroom, office, and collaborative spaces for one of Cedarville’s largest academic schools.

“We are very thankful for the confidence The Schiewetz Foundation is demonstrating through their $1 million gift,” said Dr. Jeff Haymond, dean of the school of business. “Their contribution will be used to continue to provide our students with a world-class education that will produce the next generation of Christian business leaders.”

The Schiewetz Foundation provides financial support to charitable organizations that improve the quality of life for the residents in the Miami Valley region in Ohio. Specifically, the foundation supports charitable organizations whose programs work to further economic development and entrepreneurship, higher education, leadership training, historical preservation, and the performing arts with grants for programs and capital projects.
